Food is amazing, delicious, and life giving. Gluttony is neither easy, nor fun to unravel. But, it's Lent, and we're committed to examining ourselves, our relationships to and behaviors surrounding even our good desires, like hunger. Join us as we look honestly at the complicated way we relate to food, and the way food relates to our internal complexities. We'll also work through the ways gluttony is thought to show up in the Christian tradition. Inspiring music, reflection, meditation, Eucharist, and more. Come as you are. All are welcome.

We have a special treat this week! Our friend and partner in justice work, Rajni Shankar-Brown, will join us for some engagement and education surrounding the issues of hunger, encouraging us with simple ways to help, and challenging us to self-examine, especially as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving. Rajni will be sharing a sung selection from her sacred tradition, on this topic, reminding us that hunger is a human issue that transcends religious divides. We'll consider the story of Jesus feeding the multitudes, and ask some pointed questions about what this story does to us, rather than what we would rather it do for us.

This week we continued our exploration of the connections between food and faith with a message on interfaith work in the world. When communities from various faith traditions gather together for peace and food, they are truly embodying faith. We reflected on different cultures, interfaith work, and were inspired to view food as a catalyst for peace.

This week we continue our exploration of the connections between food and faith, with a classic passage. When Jesus speaks of Salt and Light, we do well to pay attention to means and ends, things of primary and secondary importance. Join us to reflect and taste, imagine and be inspired for a life of flavor and illumination.

This week we get to enjoy one of the most powerful evenings together at Collective. On Dia De Los Muertos, we pull together three of the most important disciplines of spirituality, of the Christian tradition, and of sacramental practice: Eat. Drink. Remember. We'll connect the center of our faith with the intuitive human connections between food and the dead, memory and celebration, facing loss and living fully. We'll do this most fully by practicing the communal meal together. A brief service will be followed by a potluck, featuring the foods you connect with passed loved ones, family, memory, and values. Bring a dish and beverage to share.
