Collective Podcast Sermons for threshold faith communities.

This week we'll explore an unfamiliar story. Far from Primary in the biblical narrative, this will be an experience in a foreign tale from a foreign source. We will, however, encounter a familiar character. We'll finish our time with Daniel in one of the most thrilling and intriguing adventures to date. It will offer us opportunity for critique and reflection, thoughtful conversation and introspection.

This week we revisit one of the well-worn stories of the Hebrew bible. Not only Daniel, but three of his his friends as well end up in a fiery furnace and live to tell about it. Engaging themes of magic, sorcery, dream interpretation, personality disorders, and mental instability, we'll look at the story from a very different angle and let it ask us some probing questions. What does the story have for us if we refuse the assumption that we are the protagonists in the furnace, and instead view ourselves as the twisted king who puts them there?

On the heels of another great visit from Peter Rollins, we return to the PRIMARY Series with a look at the story of Daniel in the lion's den. Join us for reflections on the problems created by power struggles, what the art history of this Daniel story shows us and asks of us, as well as a new twist on how this story invites us to reflect on our own formation, convictions, and interpretation of the story we're living.
